http://www.lotro.com/worldtour

My father's dragged me into playing this with him, and honestly it looks pretty promising. You can go to that website and sign up to start the Open Beta test on April 6th, if you want to join me. Level cap is 15 for 'Free Peoples' and there is no cap for the Monster Play portion of the game, so if you're interested, come check it out.

I'll most likely be on the Brandywine or Meneldor server.

I played the closed beta for it, it was made by Turbine and it feels a lot like DnD online if you ever played that game

I'm enjoying it a lot right now, I made a Hobbit Burglar, he's only 11 but I havent had too much time to play because of school and work.

One of the biggest things I'm really in love with it the Deed/Trait system, to try to describe them, they're like little sub-quests that don't give XP/money, but instead reward you with titles and traits. When you discover a deed you can go to your deed menu and look up the requirements to complete the deed, it could be Kill X monster in Y area, discover such and such monuments, delivering items to different places, using a class ability X amount of times, etc. When you complete it, you're rewarded with either a Title or Trait, a title being like.. 'Spider-Sting' for completing the 'Slay X Spiders in The Shire', which you can then display alongside your name. Traits are things that modify your character, giving them enhanced resistances, more stats, higher crit multipliers, anything really. They're what allows you to customize your character beyond gear, and depending on what you've found and earned, make your character really unique. It's fun because it encourages you to explore every little thing. :p

I havent tried Monster Play yet, but from what I've heard it's a blast, I'll toss some thoughts down once I've had the chance to give it a spin.

To expand on what I said earlier I'm including pretty screenies.

Exploration Deed: Trait Reward.
Quest Deed: Trait Reward.
Mob Slaying Deed: Trait Reward.
Mob Slaying Deed: Title Reward.
Class-Based Skill Deed: Skill Boost Reward.
Race-Based Deed: Trait Reward.
Trait Equip Screen.
Title Selection Screen.

The Deed/Trait/Title system is one of my favorite things, I loooove it. <3

Character Info Screen.
PvP Info Screen.
Quest Log.

Pretty self explanatory stuff.

Family Tree Screen.

I thought this was a neat little feature, you can actually set up your own family tree with other players, spanning 8 generations I believe.

Guild Info Screen.

Guilds are known as 'Kinships' in LOTRO, I don't know much about the mechanics behind them right now, but I've heard that they're bestowed different little priveledges the longer they're active.

Crafting Screen.

Crafting isnt chosen by single profession, but as a bundled 'vocation.' A good explanation of all the available vocations can be found here.
http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Vocation
The crafting system is somewhat like WoW's, the main difference being that you can buy a lot, if not most, of the materials from a vendor, allowing you to powerlevel the trade easily if you have the money.

Destiny Points.

Once you hit level 10 you are given 200 Destiny Points. Every level after 10, you're given 200 more. Destiny Points purchase temporary buffs for your 'Freep' (Free People, what the Humans, Dwarves, Hobbits, and Dwarves are called), or to permanently advance one of your Monster Player Characters.

This wiki has links to each of the 5 monster types, along with their starting skills/stats and what your destiny points will buy for each.

Scenery Shot of The Shire.
Another Scenery Shot of the Shire.

I preordered to play for fun on Meneldor.

Made a lore-master.

I don't know what it is, but it feels just like WoW...with less people and weirder abilities.
